It's Grand Rapids' hippest neighborhood, where the area's character is reflected in an eclectic mix of specialty shops and galleries, restaurants, coffee houses, entertainment venues, and businesses that cater to the needs of area residents and visitors.
As many of you may have seen, the Hub Lot in Eastown has received a makeover thanks to the City of Grand Rapids, The Black Cats, Billy’s/Mulligans and also the hard work of a few people. The EBA and ECA had to come up with 10% of the project cost and we’re still a little short so Lyndi of Billy’s and Mulligans is stepping up again to hold a fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 7pm at Billy’s Lounge and will consist of $3 pints of Sam Adams Winter Lager and an ugly sweater contest! More information can be found on the Facebook Event Page.
Also, if you want to help spread the word by letting people know and also changing your facebook profile image to the image above, that would be awesome!

Join Friends of Grand Rapids Parks and Citizen Foresters in helping to maintain trees across the City. Throughout the year, we host a variety of opportunities to shrug off a day at the desk and spend some time outdoors enjoying sunshine, nature, and a bit of elbow grease.
The businesses and people of Eastown have agree to host us to help prune and maintain trees within the business district. Many of these trees have low branches, and we’d like to trim them up a bit to promote better growth and for pedestrian safety.
We’ll meet at Spirit Dreams at 4:30p to kick things off. However, you’re welcome to show up late or leave early; work as much as you want. Every bit helps. We’ll wrap up around 6:30p as it starts to get dark.
What: Maintain some Trees
Where: Spirit Dreams in Eastown
When: October 23, 4:30p-6:30p
Why: Trees need love.
Who: Citizen Foresters and interested volunteers.
How: We’ve got the tools and expertise. Luckily, the trees are already there waiting for us!
June 20 coming up quick, and we need your help! We’ve got a headliner, but we are looking to fill the rest of the four hours with a variety of events around Eastown. Do you have an idea for entertainment? Or would you like to host something at your location? It can be anything you want, such as an acoustic band in a parking lot, a swing band on a stage with dancing encouraged, or strolling musicians/entertainers on the sidewalk - the sky is the limit.
If you are a retail location, we encourage you to stay open for the event past your regular hours. If you are a bar or restaurant, join the fun by providing a happy hour or late night special!
Thursday, June 20th, 5-10pm
The Uptown Marketing Committee is working hard in collaboration with each of the four business districts to pull of the first-annual Eat.Shop.Rock event. This event will be centered on outdoor entertainment and bringing people in to the four neighborhood business districts for a fun experience. If you are a retail location, we encourage you to stay open for the event past your regular hours. If you are a bar or restaurant, join the fun by providing a happy hour or late night special!
While the Uptown Marketing Committee is taking the lead on marketing and promoting the event, each business district is responsible to provide some type of outside musical entertainment. We are working with Kava House to host our headline event at 8pm, but we need to fill in half hour spots between 5-8pm. So we are reaching out to you - the businesses that make up this wonderful district.
