Join us for our Spring Mixer at Bluedoor Antiques & Elements (946 E. Fulton St.). We’ll be gathering to enjoy drinks, appetizers, and networking. Representatives from the Uptown Corridor Improvement District Board and Uptown Business Improvement District Board will be on hand to give updates, as well as Uptown staff. More information will be sent as the date gets closer.
Our annual meeting is being held on January 21 at 8:30am at Terra GR. Mark it on your calendars! The board will be updating business owners and liaisons on what’s happening within the Eastown Business District and what plans are for 2015. We’ll also have baked goods and drinks! Please pass this on to your business neighbors and we hope to see you there.
Interested in installing bike racks in front of your business? Uptown will pay up to half of the cost of the rack when you place an order with us for the “Uptown Green” upside down U rack (pictured below).
The racks cost approximately $200 for one “U.” Uptown will pay for 50% of the cost of the rack and shipping. There are limited funds available, so this will be first come, first served. Please contact Jessa Dutton at (616) 301-3929 by Friday, August 15th if you are interested. Racks come with hardware to install; installation costs and any associated right-of-way encroachment fees are the responsibility of the individual business.
Uptown is in the initial stages of planning an event centered around restaurants during ArtPrize to draw people from Downtown.
The event will run from September 23rd to October 7th. We are asking restaurants to participate by offering an “Uptown Special” during this time. It could be something already on the menu or a new and creative dish made exclusively for these two weeks. Restaurants will need to provide the name of the dish and price. Uptown will be purchasing advertising and marketing materials for the event to promote YOUR restaurant during the event.
This will be a very simple event this year with hopes to grow it over the next few years.

The Eastown Community Association is partnering with Eastown Ministries this season to collect and distribute items to boys and girls in Eastown that are in need. If you are a business in Eastown and would be willing to be a drop off point, please let Courtney Burrows know by contacting her at 616-710-9372. If you are willing to donate toys, please have them at the ECA Office before December 17, 2013. Thanks!
