- Fulton Street Farmer Market Update
- Posted on Oct 26 2011 11:44 am
“Just wanted to give you all a quick update on the Fulton Street Farmers Market project:
We have scheduled a brief groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, November 2 at the Market at 10am. It will mainly be an opportunity for us to get some good press and to remind people that we are still fund-raising. You are all cordially invited to attend. It will last no more than 20 minutes; light refreshments will be provided.
As I mentioned, we are still fund-raising! We have raised enough money to start on the infrastructure (retaining wall, storm water retention, re-grading, paving, etc.) and the open-air shed, about $2 million. We are now focused on raising the remaining $600,000 for the year-round building, the north-end restroom facility and dumpster enclosure
If you have not yet made a contribution, please consider doing so. Any size gift is greatly appreciated. Stall naming opportunities ($5,000 each) are still available, and pledges can be made over a three-year period, with payments to be made monthly, quarterly or annually—your choice. Several businesses could pledge together to reach that $5,000 level.
Brick and paver sales will be ending November 15th. We are offering them at the $35, $50 and $100 level, and order forms can be downloaded from http://www.ourgoodnessisgrowing.org.
Finally, if you are willing, please remind your customers (via email, Facebook, Twitter, in person, whatever you do) that the FSFM project is important to all of our local businesses, not just our local farmers. The FSFM’s most recent Rapid Market Assessment indicated that 72% of Market customers visit another local business during their trip to the Market, planning to spend an average of $20. With 8,000 customers per week during peak season, that’s $160,000 per week. Think how beneficial it will be to have that kind of traffic generated year-round!
Donations can be made on-line at http://www.ourgoodnessisgrowing.org or by visiting the Market or by sending in the pledge form.
We know that the past few years have been difficult, and we are aware how hard you all work to keep your businesses afloat. Please remember that even a small donation will help us towards our goal; it’s not the size of the gift, but the heart behind it that counts.
Thanks, all of you, for all you do for Uptown.
